Malév is modifying its fuel surcharge from 20 June 2011, resulting in an average 80 euro cent (approximately HUF 210) increase in costs per flight segment, the airline writes in a press release.

The correction is made necessary by the consistently high cost of fuel, fluctuations in exchange rates and the pricing policies of competitors. Malév constantly tracks changes in the price of fuel and the reactions of the airline industry. A report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) released on 6 June states that airlines have to reckon on high fuel prices throughout 2011.
