Budapest, April 29, 2011 (MTI-ECONEWS) – The Budapest Sewage Works (FCSM) on Friday inaugurated a HUF 5bn expansion of its sewage treatment plant in the north of the capital.
The expansion raised the plant’s capacity to about 200,000 cubic metres, said mayor Istvan Tarlos.
About 500,000 cubic metres of sewage is generated in the capital each day, FCSM said.
The investment was supported with a HUF 1.2bn grant from the World Bank’s Global Environmental Facility.
The inauguration of the investment, which took two years to complete, followed a year of test operation.
